Census Key: Agriculture

1870 U.S. Census: Agriculture Schedules for HadleyTownship, Pike County, Illinois

When the census taker went to farmhouses, he filled out agriculture schedule in addition to a population schedule.† This made it possible for the U. S. government to assess farm production.† Manufacturing schedules were also used, but none were filed for Hadley Township.†

Not all farmers are included on these agriculture schedules.† Generally, only those who owned their farms are listed.†
