The Center
for Heritage Resource Studies was established in 2000 to bring scholars
and practitioners together to support a comprehensive approach to
the study of heritage. Center faculty and affiliates are leaders in
the field of heritage studies, working at local, national, and international
levels. The Center’activities are formulated in a way that can be
readily applied by those responsible for the management of historic,
cultural, and environmental resources.
In this manner, the Center aims to contribute substantially
to an increased awarenessof the need for responsible heritage development.
The
center has four primary program areas to help achieve these goals:
|
Education |
Providing
professional, graduate and undergraduate training |
|
Research |
Innovative
research programs that draw on diverse, interdisciplinary fields
of study |
|
Outreach |
Involving
communities in the definition and development of local and regional
heritage |
|
Dialogue |
Fostering
public awareness and dialogue on the evolving meanings of heritage |
