1860 U.S. Census: Agriculture Schedules for HadleyTownship, Pike County, Illinois
This census taker forms his capital J’s and I’s identically. In first and last names, it is usually apparent which is correct, but middle initials are impossible to determine. Rather than enter “J. or I.” each time this occurs, we have used the more common “J.” Researchers should be aware that any middle initial given here as J could be I.
