Census Key: Agriculture

1860 U.S. Census: Agriculture Schedules for HadleyTownship, Pike County, Illinois

When the census taker visited a farmhouse, he filled out an agriculture schedule in addition to a population schedule.  This made it possible for the U. S. government to assess farm production.  Manufacturing schedules were also used, but none were filed for Hadley Township. 

Not all farmers are included on these agriculture schedules.  Generally, only those who owned their farms are listed. 

Blank spaces are indicated with a long dash (—).

Sixty-six families listed at the beginning of the Hadley Tp. population schedules are omitted by the enumerator from the agriculture schedule.   Watch for them to be located and added in 2006.   A similar discrepancy occurred on the 1850 Agriculture Schedules.
